Paneer, a fresh
cheese, when prepare in Manipuri style, let’s see how it is. As promised, I
will bring all the exotic dishes of Manipur to promote the taste as well as to
let people know such a beautiful place.
Ingredients
- 200 grams paneer
- a few sprigs of coriander leaves for garnishing
- 1 tablespoon mustard oil
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup green peas
- 3-5 green chilis
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
- 1 medium sized potato
- 1 medium sized onion
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Chop the onion, cut the potato and the paneer, and dice the chilies
- Heat the oil in a pan and add in the cumin seeds.
- Increase the flame and fry the cumin seeds for a few seconds till they release the aroma. Then add the onion. As onion softens, add potato. Now, add the green peas.
- Now add the paneer and fry them till they start turning golden brown. Add in the turmeric powder and the salt.
- Fry them for around 2 minutes. Then add ½ cup of water. Cover the lid and let it boil till the potatoes are done.
- Now, add in the milk. When it starts boiling, turn off the flame before it spills. Add the chilis immediately after so that they are half cooked.
- Garnish it with the coriander leaves. Serve along with hot rice.
