PANEER CURRY

Paneer, a fresh cheese, when prepare in Manipuri style, let’s see how it is. As promised, I will bring all the exotic dishes of Manipur to promote the taste as well as to let people know such a beautiful place.

Ingredients

  1. 200 grams paneer
  2. a few sprigs of coriander leaves for garnishing
  3. 1 tablespoon mustard oil
  4. 1 cup milk
  5. 1/3 cup green peas
  6. 3-5 green chilis
  7. 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  8. 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  9. 1 medium sized potato
  10. 1 medium sized onion
  11. Salt to taste


Instructions:

  1. Chop the onion, cut the potato and the paneer, and dice the chilies
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and add in the cumin seeds.
  3. Increase the flame and fry the cumin seeds for a few seconds till they release the aroma. Then add the onion. As onion softens, add potato. Now, add the green peas.
  4. Now add the paneer and fry them till they start turning golden brown. Add in the turmeric powder and the salt.
  5. Fry them for around 2 minutes. Then add ½ cup of water. Cover the lid and let it boil till the potatoes are done.
  6. Now, add in the milk. When it starts boiling, turn off the flame before it spills. Add the chilis immediately after so that they are half cooked.
  7. Garnish it with the coriander leaves. Serve along with hot rice.
